Kendo Seminar 1/31/2004 with Ariga Sensei

The morning began with kihon, the basics of kendo.

Participants are working on the perfect form for the men strike.

Practicing kihon with each other provides a more direct sense of the relationship to the opponent.

Ariga sensei explains one of the finer points for the correct swing.

Participants listen attentively to Ariga sensei's explanations.

The afternoon began with kata practice.

Ariga sensei and Titus Schleyer demonstrate kata number 3 (sanbonme).

At the end, participants engaged in keiko practice.

Applying the basics of kendo during keiko is essential.

The 14 participants enjoyed their first seminar thoroughly.
