University of Pittsburgh Kendo DojoDetroit Kendo Tournament on 2/17/2008
The day before the tournament a promotion test was held.
Yon-dan (4th degree black belt) was the highest rank that applicants could test for.
Judges for the promotion test viewed the testing matches with great attention.
The Mudansha Junior Youth division was one of the first eliminations in the tournament. Shoji Teramoto sensei, 2007 Champion of the All Japan Kendo Tournament, was the guest of honor. University of Pittsburgh Kendo Dojo members attending the tournament included Eric Gildea, Rob Wierzbowski, Benjamin Incze-Ebel and Titus Schleyer
The highlight of the lunch break was Teramoto sensei's mohan keiko with approximately eight kenshi.
Schleyer sensei loses to Ogimura sensei after a nuki-do.
A rare disagreement among judges.
